The interest in implementing the principles of sustainable development implies the need to monitor the impact of tourism development and the progress towards meeting its objectives. Therefore, it is necessary to develop indicators to be used for such monitoring. The Tourism Satellite Account (TSA) is a recognised methodology for measuring tourism demand and supply and tourism direct contribution to the national economy. In this methodology, tourism consumption and supply are presented according to the classifications and standards used in statistical reporting on economic activities and the System of National Accounts (SNA). In this way, the TSA allows tourism to be included in all types of analysis based on the same standards, such as structural business statistics or the System of Environmental-Economic Accounts (SEEA).
