This manuscript being the result of the research project funded by the National Science Centre systematises knowledge on changes in the conceptual approach as well as the associated real-life processes with respect to foreign direct investment (FDI) policies in Europe after the 2008 crisis.

The publication shall be seen as an attempt to systematise and assess trends in the development of basic FDI-related categories and changes in the state’s investment policy, i.e. measures taken with respect to inbound and outbound investments.

This publication refers to the collection of some earlier papers drafted during the project. It complements the results achieved so far and adds a new evidence gathered at a later stage of the research, mainly during the next round of interviews. As the project evolved it has become clear that the traditional space of FDI policy available to the EU member states (MS) has been limited by recent tendencies and exposed to new challenges.
